Hi Davis Bicycles! Friends,

Plan now to enjoy Saturday, Oct. 24th from 7:00 to 10:00 pm with Davis
Bicycles! <http://www.davisbicycles.org/> at the DB! Film Festival 2009.   We
have great local content and films from around the country and globe.  They
are funny, diverse, inspiring and informative, and all are family-friendly.
We are downright giddy about this year’s entries.  We’ll have a raffle too
and discounted bike things and munchies for sale.  We’ll be in the Brunelle
Theater/IPAB of DHS (NW corner of the Vet’s lot).

All DB!FF 2009 proceeds will support the *Steve Larsen Memorial Bike Parking
* area at the entrance to the new DHS stadium.  This initiative is part of
the *Back On Track* campaign of the DHS Blue & White
Foundation<http://www.dhsblueandwhite.org/>
.  DB! is excited to partner with the B&W Foundation on this project to
honor a DHS grad and Davis’s greatest all around cyclist, Steve Larsen.  The
effort will also promote biking by students (only about 1/3 of students bike
or walk to the HS now!) and by the community to increase attendance at
Stadium events.

The suggested donation for DB!FF2009 tickets is $5-10, but greater donations
in support of the Steve Larsen memorial will be greatly appreciated and
recognized.  The Blue & White Foundation will be on hand to tell us more
about the project.  Tickets sales will be primarily handled via DB! and Blue
& White Foundation volunteers (see below, become one!), but we will
publicize a downtown sales location soon via this DB! Announce list.

Here’s what we need from our friends and followers:

   - Mark your calendar for October 24th and plan to bring your friends.
   Make it a bike night out!  Grabs some dinner, show up by 6:40, and settle
   into a good seat.
   - Buy Tickets Now - we plan to sell out!  Reserve 2, 4 or 20 (that would
   be way cool) with a short e-mail to dbff2009 at davisbicycles.org  Suggested
   donation $5-10.  As a favor to DB! and B&W, buy a block and sell/give them
   to others?  We’ll follow up and get them to you.
   - Raffle Items Needed.  Donate something new from you or a business?
   It’s a great cause, and you’ll add to the fun.  Offer such, again to
   dbff2009 at davisbicycles.org
   - Volunteer to help us organize and publicize the event.  You guessed it,
   write to dbff2009 at davisbicycles.org.

October 24th will mark the second annual DB!FF.  Last year 220 cyclists in
Davis came together to enjoy the show, including the premier of the
Davis-made *Zen and the Art of Bicycle Commuting*.  This year we will have
more films with local content, and just as much humor, culture and
perspective as before.  We also have much to celebrate as a bike community
and this will be our largest gathering this fall.  We will celebrate our
victory in getting the Fifth Street Redesign approved in collaboration with
the Old North Davis Neighborhood Association, our broad community-wide
efforts to promote biking to schools, DB!’s ever-present columns in The
Enterprise, and the move of the Bike Church from UC Davis to town as Bike 4
th.
