[DB!-Announce] Urge City Council to support 5th St. road diet

[Davis Bicycles Announcements]

Davis Bicycles! supports the calming of Fifth Street through downtown Davis
by adding bike lanes and protected left turn lanes.

We are asking our members to attend the City Council meeting Tuesday
evening, to speak in support of the third option in the staff report. It
would make Fifth Street a "complete street" without reducing traffic
capacity of the street. In fact, experiences in over 100 other cities large
and small have demonstrated that the road diet reconfiguration improves
traffic flow, by providing space for right and left turning vehicles to pull
out of the way of through traffic.

If you attend the meeting and speak to the council, please mention what part
of town you live and work in, especially if it's a different part of town
than the Fifth Street corridor. Fifth Street corridor is item 6 on the
council's agenda. It may be considered at around 7:30 or later. But it's not
possible to predict exactly what time.
