*May is Bike Month!*
May is Bike Month promotes using a bicycle for any type of trip - errands,
recreational cycling for health and fitness, and bicycle commuting. So first
off, make sure to register and log your millage at
http://www.mayisbikemonth.com/. The City of Davis has set a community
challenge of *120,000 miles* for the month. This is twice the miles logged
last year, or the equivalent of two miles per Davis resident for the entire
month. The Davis school or class that logs the most bike miles during May
will receive a party with individual awards, courtesy of Davis Bicycles! See
our website <http://www.davisbicycles.org/projects/mayisbikemonth> for more
details.

The Bike Church has recently relocated to a commercial space in Downtown
Davis at the corner of 4th and L St. In the transition they have organized
as nonprofit 501(c)(3) and donned a new name – *Bike Forth – The Davis
Bicycle Collective. *Check out their Wiki
page<http://daviswiki.org/Davis_Bike_Collective>for more information
or stop by and check out their great new space.

The Davis City Council is scheduled to take up discussion of the Fifth
Street Corridor at their May 5th meeting. This meeting is the anticipated
follow-up to the last Council discussion held on February 17th. The key
topic will be to present a range of conceptual project options to the
Council for their consideration and seek direction from the Council on which
option(s) should receive more in-depth analysis and community dialogue. *Please
come and support a complete streets option!
