*Happy New Year and Welcome to the January Davis Bicycles! Announcements*.
*January Project Meeting - Wednesday January 14th 7:00-9:00*
Activity Room in the Senior Center, which is at the southeast corner of 7th
and A Streets.
The purpose of the DB! project meetings is to meet and organize with others
with similar bike interests and to form a working group to carry the ideas
forward. Our two topics this month are *Bikes in Davis Schools* and *Bike
Hazards in Davis*.
*
Schools*
We will have short presentations by school board member Richard Harris and
John Mott-Smith on how bike programs can be part of the green schools
initiative and then focus on three topics that we feel are lacking in Davis
schools: bicycling to schools, bike parking at schools, and bicycle
education in schools.
*
Hazards*
A year ago we presented the our '100
Things<http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pXw0K6wVCLYaPWSme6Ft0Zg>'
list of bike problems that need fixing to the city council. Many of those
items have been addressed and many others have been included in the new bike
plan, but where do we go from here? There is a new Davis Wiki bike hazard
page: http://daviswiki.org/Bicycle_Hazards - can this be integrated into the
100 things list? Come discuss these and other related issues with Tara
Goddard, bicycle coordinator for the City of Davis.
Please come and let any others know who you think would like to contribute.
*

course in downtown Sacramento this Spring, on February 27,28 and March 1st
(Friday evening until Sunday lunchtime). The last Sacramento course was in
October 2006, so this is a fairly rare event! This course will train up to
15 League Certified
Instructors<http://www.bikeleague.org/programs/education/seminars.php>(LCIs).
LCIs are certified and insured to teach the League's Bike Education
curriculum.
