[DB!-Announce] DDBA Fifth Street corridor meeting, Fri. AM

Davis Bicycles Announcements announce at lists.davisbicycles.org
Thu Nov 20 19:20:07 PST 2008

Thanks to everyone who attended the DB! projects meeting last night. We
didn't have time to discuss what position DB! should take on the Fifth
Street corridor. Please let us know your thoughts by e-mail:
info at davisbicycles.org

And of course, please share any concerns you have with the City
http://www.cityofdavis.org/5thstreetcorridor

Some of you may have heard that the meetings about this hosted by the
Downtown Business Association and the Chamber of Commerce were for business
members only. (Contrary to the notice last week in the Enterprise and recent
DB! announce e-mails, some DB! members were asked to leave their meeting on
Tuesday.) The latest news is that members of the public will be allowed at
tomorrow morning's meeting (although they will be taking input only from
their member businesses).

We are encouraging DB! members to attend tomorrow's meeting. See below for
details. Even though we may not be allowed to speak, our presence will
remind the business community that this issue is of particular concern for
bicyclists and pedestrians. (And, at last, a meeting on Fifth Street that's
not at the same time as another meeting on the future of the Bike Church!)

5th Street Corridor & the Future - What Are Your Issues?

TOMORROW - Friday, November 21, 7:30 - 9:00 a.m., Davis Joint Unified School
District Administration Building, 526 B Street (at Russell Boulevard), East
Conference Room
The Davis City Council recently asked City staff to reach out to both the
Davis Chamber of Commerce and the Davis Downtown Business Association (DDBA)
to gain a better understanding of the questions, concerns and comments of
both memberships regarding the future of the 5th Street Corridor and its
possible reconfiguration. By listening to and understanding the issues of
major stakeholders such as Chamber and DDBA members, City staff will be
better prepared to define the scope of any problems and ascertain what
potential options or solutions might be evaluated for Council to consider in
the months to come.

The Chamber and DDBA are pleased to be able to collaborate to offer you this
meeting, the second of two opportunities, to engage with City staff about
the 5th Street Corridor. No RSVP is required; if you have questions, or are
unable to attend and wish to pass along comments, please contact Christi
Skibbins, Chamber Executive Director, at 756-5160 or ceo at davischamber.com,
or Joy Cohan, DDBA Administrator, at 756-8763 or joy at davisdowntown.com.
