DavisBicycles! invites you to attend our first annual film festival on
Friday, October 3, 2008, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at the Veterans' Memorial
Center Theatre. Admission free; contributions and memberships welcome.
The DavisBicycles! Film Festival will feature the world premier of local
videographer Ken Celli's *Zen and the Art of Bicycle Commuting*, a new short
film about the hundreds of cyclists who commute from Davis to Sacramento. *Zen
and the Art of Bicycle Commuting* presents the stories behind the
Davis-to-Sacramento bike commuters, and shows the way for others who might
venture into a new commute mode that's far more accessible than many might
ever imagine. This video effortlessly serves as a visual handbook for
anyone who has ever wanted to commute to Sacramento on a bicycle. The DB!FF
will also provide the first public showing of the new and energetic
*Davis**Skate Park
** Summer '08* by Tristan Adams.
Join DB! to enjoy other great submissions such as Good Will Biking,
Tandemonium, Snot Rocket Biker, Bent, DIY: Emancipation, Bike Lane
Liberation, Skidders, and the pure joy of – FLAT.
Many of the these fun and informative short films will be re-screened from
Portland's Filmed By Bike festivals in 2007 & 2008 (www.filmedbybike.org),
or are from the Streetfilms (www.streetfilms.org) archive. In addition to
three Davis-focused films, the cities of Bogota, Berkeley, New York and
Portland provide locations. The films range from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
All of the material has been specially selected by DavisBicycles! for its
relevance to Davis and family friendly entertainment value – though we can't
promise to keep small children riveted to the screen!
*Directions:* Follow the Davis Bike Loop (
www.davisbicycles.org/guide/bikeloop/) and stop when you get to the Vets'
Memorial Center Theatre. Exact location: NE corner of the Davis Senior
HS/Vet Center parking lot @ 14th & B).
See you there!
Leo Rainer, President, DB!
