Davis Bicycles Announcements announce at lists.davisbicycles.org
Tue May 20 10:56:38 PDT 2008

Tara Goddard, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of
Davis, will speak at this Friday's seminar, sponsored by the Institute
of Transportation Studies at UC Davis:

*Time: *May 23, 2008, 1:30 pm -- 3:00 pm**

* Location: *1065 Kemper Hall, UC Davis

*Title:* Local Government Strategies: When Platinum Isn't Enough

*Abstract: *

Tara Goddard, ITS Davis graduate (Civil, 2005), will share the good, the
bad, and the ugly from her first six months as the City of Davis Bicycle
and Pedestrian Coordinator. This will be a (mostly) non-technical look
at non-motorized transportation planning at the local level, with the
added spice of the challenges and opportunities provided by the unique
community of Davis. While Ms. Goddard welcomes questions and comments,
she kindly asked that you do /not/ plan on giving her a laundry list of
potholes or malfunctioning loop detectors around town.

*Biographical Sketches: *

Before becoming the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of
Davis, Tara Goddard worked as a Transportation Planner for the City of
Sacramento, focusing on transit-oriented development, urban
revitalization, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Prior to that,
she completed her Masters in Civil Engineering under the mentorship of
Dr. Susan Handy, taking one year off to participate in the Executive
Fellowship Program in Sacramento. Ms. Goddard earned her Bachelor of
Science in Mechanical Engineering at UC Santa Barbara, where she was
awarded Outstanding ME Student of the Year and developed a healthy
appreciation for having a beach five minutes from the classroom. In her
spare time, Tara enjoys working with the Yolo County SPCA, yoga,
kayaking, and watching Discovery Channel reality shows.

We hope you will be able to join us and no reservations are needed.
