[Davis Bicycles Announcements]

Greetings Davis Bicycles!.

Davis Bicycles is organizing a bike ride and ice cream social this Sunday,
Oct. 21.  It is to celebrate the "completion" of the Davis Bike Loop, or at
least the designation and marking of it.  General public as well as members
are invited. We will form two riding groups, one traveling the northern leg
of the bike loop, and one traveling the southern leg, traveling from east to
west. We'll pick up riders on the way and converge at the western end of the
loop at the Village Homes green.  There we'll have our celebration and ice
cream social.  The ice cream will be free!

The groups will leave at 2 pm from the picnic pavilion at Mace Ranch Park
and from the playground at Willow Creek Park on Cowell Blvd. and ride
westward along the north and south branches of the loop, respectively.
Convenient waiting and collection points on the South branch will be Putah
Creek park, Walnut Park, east end of the Arboretum at Borders, the Campus
Bike Barn and the Bike Church on the South branch and at Holmes Jr. High,
Davis Art Center, Sycamore Park and Arroyo Park on the North side.

We'll have a "ribbon cutting" ceremony at the green at 3:00 and then break
out the ice cream and celebrate.  Please come, even if you can only drive,
only be there for the ice cream, or only join us for part of the ride.  It
will be a great  opportunity to mix and meet with lots of Davis' bicycling
enthusiasts and activists, or just other people that are enjoying exploring
the bike paths.  The V.H. green is a great place for frisbee and soccer, and
the "Figgy Park" playground is nearby.

For those more serious about Davis Bicycles! work there should be lots of
discussion about bikes and bike infrastructure, safety, and strategizing
about bike advocacy.  Davis is the U.S. epicenter in these efforts, so come
on out and get involved and inspired! Invite some friends; we're hoping to
build our group.

Active rain cancels, but so far reports are looking pretty good.

We should be sending out another email soon with a message suitable for
forwarding to friends and others you think might be interested.  Please help
us get the word out.
