Lots of great bicycle related happenings are coming up in the next month.

Monday, August 20
The Davis Bicycle Advisory Committee will meet to discuss the next Davis
Bike Plan. 7:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Center Game Room. Thanks to
hard work by Ken Celli and many others we have made a great start on a new
bike plan for Davis. You can still play a part in writing the next Davis
Bike Plan, go to http://www.daviswiki.or/write_the_bike_plan and follow
the process.  You can choose from a topic there or come up with a new one
that is important to you.  Email your document to
bikeplan at davisbicycles.org. For copies of the previous plans, the current
draft, and a template for contributions, go to

Wednesday, August 22
The Vancouver, Canada bicycle dance troupe, the B:C:Clettes will perform
at the Farmers' market Picnic in the Park at 7PM, singing songs and
dancing dances about bicycles.  It's an all-girl company, wearing red and
black striped tights and riding matching bikes.  Vancouver is known for
having a strong bicycle subculture, and the emergence of a growing arts
movement there is something we can all enjoy this Wednesday in Davis.  For

Monday, August 27
There will be no general DB! Meeting this month, but join us for a ride
around the Davis Greenway. This 12 mile tour through Davis’ wonderful
bicycles facilities will follow the route newly marked by the city in
preparation for the upcoming bike/walk conference (see next item). We will
meet at the Rainbow City playground in Community Park at 6:00 pm and take
a 1½ hour leisurely ride. Join us for all or part and maybe even some

Wednesday, September 12
As part of the California Walk/Bike Conference being held September 11-14
in Davis there will be a panel discussion with the Davis Bicycle System
Pioneers in honor of the 40th anniversary of the first bike lane in the
U.S. Davis Bicycles! will be providing volunteers to help organize the
event and the celebration at the Farmers Market afterwards. For more
